On A Hill
By Richard Boll 11/25 (Hebrews 9:9,10)
On a hill far away, stood a man I could hardly see.
But drawing closer, I realized, that man was looking at me.
He gazed not left nor right, but only straight ahead.
His eyes pierced right through me, with the words that he said:
“I’ve known you before your birth, and was sent to walk this land.
To guard you and protect you, from things you do not understand.
Things beyond your comprehension, but are as real as real can be.
Like many, I’ve heard you say, ‘I don’t believe things I cannot see.’
Believe there is an eternal life. There is a Heaven and there’s a Hell.
As sure as the breath that you just took, it’s real! And I am here to tell.
But don’t just believe because I tell you; God wants you to understand.
He created the universe, and worship system for you to know His plan.
Each piece of the Tabernacle and its worship, points to only one end.
What God’s Son did for you on Calvary, so you could call Him friend.
The Temple curtain tore, opening the room where God resides.
Making a way for you to be with Him, someday standing by His side.
But that will never happen, with the direction you’re going today.
Remember all the times I saved your life, and listen to what I say.
You cannot be the one in charge, the one calling all the shots.
For salvation you must humble yourself, surrender all your faults.
Faults are easy and they must include, everything you’ve done.
Everything in your life completely, every battle you’ve ever won.
You must hold nothing back, but give it all to the greatest King.
God moves when you make Him Lord. And then is when I’ll sing:
I’ll sing of your life ahead, and of all the plans God has in store.
To mold you into the likeness of His Son, Jesus whom He adores.
Using you to change the lives of many, some of which you know.
Teach them to obey everything, as He commanded so long ago.”
The man disappeared right before my eyes, but none of his words.
Lingering deep down into my heart. I thought about what I heard.
Then I decided to surrender all, and repent of all my many sins.
Confessed Jesus is Lord at my baptism. Now I am born again!
