When Darkness Came

When Darkness Came
By Richard Boll

Behind every shadow, a glimmer of light,
For victory rises because of the fight.
I press on through pain, though my strength feels undone,
And drink from the cup that must still be won.

.

Life can be cruel—this much is true,
Yet seasons of sorrow will fade into new.
One moment in time, a gift heaven-given:
The day grace found me, the day I was forgiven.

Now memories linger, more real than before,
My heart sees their face through an unseen door.
With joy, knowing they rest in the presence of God—
Yet aching they’re gone… a sorrow so odd.

.

So life carries on with a deeper, new aim;
Not shallow or fleeting, but steady in flame.
For I owe a life to the love you once gave—
I’ll live it with purpose, both strong and brave.
