Of Every Race

(Acts 10:1-48) RLB 12/1/23

The room was filled, with his family and friends.
A Gentile people, which every Jew offends.
We were wondering why, we were even there.
And started questioning, Peter’s visionary prayer.

We do not belong, in this uncomfortable scene!
These people are Gentiles, considered unclean.
But Peter assured us, that God told him to come.
After following these men, to where they were from.

The host was a Roman officer, a man in charge
Of the Italian Regiment, a company quite large.
As Peter entered, Cornelius fell at his feet.
“Stand Up! I am human like you. Why did we meet?”

After explaining his prayer and dazzling man he saw,
We knew God was working and stood there in awe.
For, as Peter was speaking we saw the Holy Spirit fall
On all those who were listening, both the big and the small.

Just like what happed to us, on that Pentecost day,
With speaking other languages; God’s glory displayed.
Then Peter asked, “Why should these people not be
Baptized? For they have received the same gift as we?”

So Peter gave us the orders to baptize this crowd,
In the name of Jesus Christ. Every knee is bowed.
He stayed several days. We left with a smile on our face.
For God granted salvation to all people, of every race.
